SAMO Story

Dope! For those that don't know Basquit wasn't a one man team with the SAMO tag and here's a interview with the second half Al Diaz PART 2 PART 3

Shakespear's Beatrice Collins

My boy put me on to Shakespear awhile back and I might have seen him perform in Newark at some point but I'm not too sure. I could always tell he had talent but I've never been a fan. Today I went to my Soundcloud like I usually do to find a podcast to listen to for my commute to work and strangely there was none. So I go to the top of the Stream and see he just dropped a mixtape. I go through them and I actually like three joints which I'm sharing.
I think these songs can really do something for him. I, myself get a Wale vibe to this mixtape. The thing that I think gets in the way of me liking him more is his metaphors are misplaced and sometimes hickups his flow. Don't get me wrong I'm a old head and love metaphors but it shouldn't be forced and I think he had a metaphor quota per verse or bar even. But like the rainbow: Don't take my word for it...

Micaela Bastidas

Micaela was born in Pampamarca (in Abancay) in 1747. She was the daughter of Manuel Bastidas (of African descent) and Josefa Puyucahua (a Native American). Micaela was during her youth described as beautiful and had tanned skin. Micaela married in 1760 to José Gabriel Condorcanqui, Túpac Amaru II, an important figure in Peruvian history as well, being a descendent of the Inca Tupac Amaru. They married in the Church of our Lady of the Purification in the town of Surimana. The couple had three sons, Hipólito (1761), Mariano (1762), and Fernando (1768). After that she was captured in a failed uprising. She had joined her spouse in leading the rebellion, leading indigenous men and women in a battle for independence as well as organizing supplies and recruiting forces[1] Finally she was executed by the Spanish very painfully on May 18, 1781, at 36 years of age. Her son Hipólito was also executed by the Spanish, both of them in front of Tupac Amaru II, who was then quartered and beheaded by the Spanish.

23rd New Jersey Volunteer Infantry AKA

The 23rd New Jersey Volunteer Infantry was an American Civil War infantry regiment from New Jersey that served a nine-month enlistment in the Union Army.
They were sent out to join the Army of the Potomac, it was brigaded with the New Jersey units that made up the famed "First New Jersey Brigade".
The arrival of the nearly 1,000-strong 23rd New Jersey and the newly recruited three-year 15th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry greatly replenished the brigade's numbers.
When the 23rd New Jersey's first commander, Colonel John S. Cox, resigned to prevent a court-martial for drunkenness in November 1862, the new commander, Col. Henry O. Ryerson (the former Lieutenant Colonel of the 2nd New Jersey Volunteer Infantry), reviewed the regiment, and disparagingly called them "Yahoos", due to their less than military demeanor and irreverence. The men of the regiment took to the sobriquet, emblazoning it on their regimental flag, and called themselves Yahoos for the rest of their lives.

Shop Local: 2Strong Shop

I went to 2Strong a few weeks ago for the first time (I think) for a Moruf in store performance and I really like the shop alot. There's art everywhere and even some Urban Vinyl/ Designer Toys. Being in Roselle Park I took the same bus that I would take to see my folks in Linden so I was pretty comfortable in catching public transit.
Check out the video below of the day I went to the instore. Even catch your boy in there somewhere. lol

Shop Local: The Suvas Store

I follow this shop online and been there once. Since it's in Jersey City and not close to the PATH train it's kinda hard to just stop by whenever but they do have a great selection.
Check out their lookbook video from last year.
